A wave of small boutiques recently came ashore in Miami Beach, reshaping the notorious party town's big-label retail landscape.
A little more than a year ago, Paris transplant Leslie Gelrubin Benitah opened Trend (1673 Meridian Ave.; 305-534-4755; trend07.com), which carries only French cult labels, such as Isabel Marant and Jerome Dreyfuss. Five months later, Alchemist (438 Lincoln Rd.; 305-531-4653; shopalchemist.com), the brainchild of Erika and Roma Cohen, filled its high-ceilinged space with Jil Sander dresses and vintage Chanel jewelry.
The newest addition will be the Webster, partly owned by Milan Vukmirovic, a founder of Paris's überhip Colette. Currently in a temporary space while it awaits the renovation of the former Hotel Webster, the Webster Temporary (919 Collins Ave.; 305-674-7899; thewebstermiami.com), as it's affectionately known, showcases runway-worthy looks from Balenciaga, Lanvin and Miu Miu.
